“The Solemn Fracture” was released everywhere officially in March of 2019. Rhakshah’s first outing into the world has remained true to the roots of death metal, though it’s accented frivolously with challenging guitar pieces, articulate yet unpredictable vocal rhythms and an unyielding barrage of percussive power!

Rhakshah is a South African Progressive Technical Death Metal band based in Cape Town.  The band is ultimately the culmination of a journey starting in early 2015, with Nathan McClure seeking out like-minded individuals who enjoy expressing themselves through creative impacting music. His vision for the band was to break the stereotype of “Just another local band”. This has remained ironclad during the formation of the group and after seeing many talented musicians come and go, the current line up was set in stone as of early September 2017.

Nathan McClure – Frontman, lead vocal and lyricist
Justin Ross – Lead guitar and main composer
Arno van Zyl – Rhythm guitar and occasionally banjo
Jonathan Burgers –  Drums
Thariq Taladia – Bass guitar
Stian Estebeth – Guitar (Touring)

The name Rhakshah was derived from Rakshabandan, a Southern Asian annual rite centered around the tying of a thread, talisman, or amulet on the wrist as a form of ritual protection. Symbolizing a bond of protection or obligation to care for your fellow brother or sister. Rhakshah’s influence and sound can be related to bands like Necrophagist, Opeth, Decapitated, Dimmu Borgir, The Faceless, The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel and Slayer.

Rhakshah made their anticipated debut at From The Hive’s “Badlands” in Stellenbosch, South Africa on October 7th 2017. Their debut single ‘Regalia’ premiered on local Cape Town radio station, OneFM 94.0 on the stations Rock Arena late night show.
